People started reporting issues on Downdetector, a website that trackers user-reported problems, just after noon EST on Wednesday and, by 1 p.m., there were more than 2,800 users reporting problems with Google Drive.
Hundreds more had reported problems with the Google search engine, Google Sheets and Google Docs, and there were dozens of reports about Google Workspace, the cloud computing and collaboration tools used by millions of companies worldwide.
Google at 1:45 p.m. said it was “investigating access issues” with Google Drive, Google Sheets and Google Docs that began around noon.
The company said it had fixed the issue as of 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

It wasn’t just you; people flocked to the popular outage reporting website Downdetector to proclaim an outage at Google. Based on the reports, Google Drive appeared to be the most affected, but we saw a variety of services experiencing issues.
For its part, Google finally acknowledged that something is wrong on its Google Workspace status page around 12:40 p.m. Pacific. It took a while, but at least we know it’s official now.
